August Challenge: Bootcamp

Welcome to August! Last month we really focused on creating healthy habits by drinking plenty of water, having self-control, not eating too late and being aware of how much processed foods we put in our bodies. Hopefully some of those stick with your lifestyle and you continue to be aware of how much better they all make you feel!

This month we are going to focus on fitness. When ever my brother, Joe, and I are together we like to workout by doing a boot-camp workout outside. We start off my jogging for 5 minutes and then I pick 2 exercises and he picks 2 exercises and we do 3 sets of those with a minute jog and jumping jacks in between. At the end we take 5 minutes and do sprints.

For example the workout would look like this:

  • Warm up: 5 minute jog
  • Set 1: 25 pushups, 25 lunges, 20 box jumps, 25 dips
  • 1 minute jog
  • 25 jumping jacks
  • Set 2: 25 pushups, 25 lunges, 20 box jumps, 25 dips
  • 1 minute jog
  • 25 jumping jacks
  • Set 3: 25 pushups, 25 lunges, 20 box jumps, 25 dips
  • 25 jumping jacks
  • Sprints: Jog 30 seconds, Sprint 30 seconds, Jog 20 seconds, Sprint 20 seconds, Jog 10 seconds, sprint 10 seconds
  • Repeat Sprints
  • HYDRATE. YOU ARE DONE!

This month our challenge is to complete a boot-camp workout 3x a week.

Grab a buddy and pick 4 exercises (be creative!). If you want, you can use the example above, but it’s more fun to make it your own. And most importantly, have fun!

I recommend spacing the 3 workouts per week out because you will be sore. I also recommend that on the days that you are not doing the boot camp to do cardio.
